We train at The Riverbourne Health Club, in Heriot Road Chertsey, Surrey, KT16 9D.
Adult karate classes run on Mondays and Thursdays from 8:15pm to 9:45pm.
Kids Karate has been put on hold for the time being due to professional commitments.
Once a month, on Sundays, I go to Shihan Leo Lipinski’s 3h sessions at the Bishop Douglas School, London.
I also try an attend as many 3h seminars as I can with Leo Lipinski, at the Bishop Douglas School, London. These seminars are not only a real karate workout, but are also focused on what and how to teach karate, the mistakes we make and how to avoid them to ensure the right knowledge is transferred to novice (and not so novice) students by following the right syllabus. These sessions also gives an opportunity to train with other superb 1st Dan to 4th Dan black belts karatekas and, more importantly, be scrutinised by Shihan Leo’s sharp eye.
These sessions are occasionally run by Shihan Ben Craft and Shihan Gurmit Singh, two formidable karatekas and instructors with an oustanding understanding of the depth of Seiwakai Karate.
In Shihan Leo’s words: “it all comes down to a good and solid basic kihon techniques “. Indeed, with strong foundations, you can build more advanced karate.
